Game 1: Bruins-Rangers Preview

Game 1 (ECSF): New York Rangers @ Boston Bruins

Game Time: 7:30 PM

Location: TD Garden

TV/Radio: NBC Sports Network/98.5 The Sports Hub

Boston will kick off the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with another familiar Original Six foe. The Rangers will be visiting the Bruins, marking their first post-season matchup in 40 years.

The B’s will be looking to build off a successful ending to their series with Toronto. They seemed to have gotten their offensive swagger back and have high hopes of carrying that over. New York on the other hand has some serious defensive momentum going for them, coming off two consecutive shut outs against Washington. John Tortorella’s crew will look to stifle the Bruins scorers.

Claude Julien’s blue line is banged up. Dennis Seidenberg, Andrew Ference, and Wade Redden were all non-participants in today’s morning skate. They are expected to sit out game 1. Dougie Hamilton and Matt Bartkowski will be getting the nod as they did in game 7 Monday night. Torey Krug was called up from Providence and will likely be in the lineup.

Julien on Seidenberg, Ference, and Redden: “They weren’t on the ice this morning, so it doesn’t look good.” He went on to speak about a major key to victory, saying,  “We have got to find ways to get pucks to the net, keep your head up when you’re shooting; they’re going to block shots not matter what.”

No changes are expected for the Boston forward lines. Jaromir Jagr practiced with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand. That trio should remain in tact come game time. Tyler Seguin will skate alongside Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley. The Bruins top line and fourth line be used per usual.

The expected Bruins lineup is as follows:

Lucic-Krejci-Horton

Marchand-Bergeron-Jagr

Peverley-Kelly-Seguin

Paille-Campell-Thornton

Chara-Hamilton

Bartkowski-Boychuk

Krug-McQuaid

Rask

The expected Rangers lineup is as follows:

Zuccarello-Brassard-Nash

Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan

Pyatt-Boyle-Dorsett

Kreider-Richards-Asham

McDonagh-Giardi

Del Zotto-Stralman

Eminger-Moore

Lundqvist
