Ference Awaiting Disciplinary Action

Bruins blue-liner Andrew Ference is in line for a disciplinary hearing with the head of NHL player safety, Brendan Shanahan. Ference will be asked about an apparent elbow that he landed on Mikhail Grabovski’s head as they both pursued a puck into the corner board area in the game’s opening frame.

Grabovski did fall to the ice and lay motionlessly for a moment before ultimately getting up injury free. No penalty was whistled on the play either. Ference did not recall the particular play when asked about it post game.

Ference is not a repeat offender and could avoid suspension. Though if punished, defenseman Aaron Johnson and Dougie Hamilton will be likely candidates to replace him in the lineup.
