Red Sox fail to sweep Yanks

Today was all about Andy Pettite, Pettite was able to silence the Red Sox lineup that was able to put up 15 runs in the first two games of the season. While the first two games were a story about how well the Sox pitching was, today was a story of how well the Yankees pitched.
Andy Pettite was able to throw 8 innings allowing only 1 earned run on 9 hits striking out 3 batters. Going opposite of Pettite was Ryan Dempster who wasn’t good enough to hell the Sox sweep the Yankees. Dempster pitched 5 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits striking out 8 Yankee batters.
While Dempster’s numbers weren’t awful they just weren’t good enough as Pettite was able to just hand the ball off to Mariano Rivera for the save. That is a recipe for success if you’re the Yankees and if you’re the Red Sox, 9 out of 10 time you will take this type of outing from your number three starter.
The Red Sox will now take on the new look Blue Jays in Toronto as John Farrell will return to the home of his first managing gig for the first time. Red Sox management and fans alike will get a look at their four and five starters Felix Dubront and John Lackey to kick off the series. If the Red Sox can take 2 out of 3 in this series it will say alot more about their team then taking 2 out of 3 from a beaten up Yankees team.
