Potiental Safeties and updated Signings.

Safety edition

Patriots are really looking to improve their secondary. Since cutting Patrick Chung they look thin at safety. Heres a list of potential players the pats could sign one or two if these guys.

Guys who have signed:

Patrick Chung (EX-NE)

Patrick Chung has been released from the New England Patriots. The pats held onto A lot of hope with Chung that he would produce at a high level and develop into a player that could fill in for the departure of Rodney Harrison. He never lived up to that and a failure to remain healthy resulted in his release.

Chung found work pretty quickly. He has landed with the Eagles. second chances are sometimes rare but he gets a golden opportunity the Eagles new head coach is his former college coach.

Dashon Goldson (EX-SF)

The last seven years, Goldson has played at a high level. He has established himself as a top safety in the League. This guy is a turn over monster and is great against containing plays.

Buccaneers signed Goldson to a fully Gareenteed 3 year $25.5mill deal.

Jairus Byrd (BUF)

This guy is a ball hawk. He’s also improved in his overall skill set. While some Expected the Franchise tag him and the bills have come to terms on a deal.

Jairus Byrd has been Franchise tagged by the Bills.

William Moore (ATL)

While the Falcons fight their cap issue. A few of their Defensive pieces have slipped away from them. Moore has played out his rookie contract quite nicely and with the safety market not being what they used to be Moore could find himself as a consistent Pro Bowl safety.

The Falcons were able to retain Moore agreeing to a 5 year deal.

Louis Delmas (DET)

Delmas missed more than half of the season due to an injury and a direct result from that was the Lions Defense. He’s a rare bright spot on this weak secondary unit.

Louis Delmas has returned to the Lions on a 2 year deal.

Adrian Wilson (EX-ARZ)

Wilson is one of just six players in league history to top at least 25 interceptions and 25 sacks. He was Released by the Cardinals as they try to revamp their defensive unit with some youth.

coincidentally the Patriots need some veteran leadership and decided to sign Wilson to a 3 year deal. the hard-hitting physical safety should have a good amount of success in the New England Defense that has been lacking just that.

Free Agents:

Bernard Pollard ( EX-BAL )

A surprise move the Ravens release there Bruising safety. this was a string a questionable moves by the Ravens. the safety has been on a lot of teams over the last few years.

Reports have surfaced that Pollard is a bit out spoken, complains, and has a me first approach.this will tend to wear on teams over the course of a season.

Ed Reed ( EX-BAL)

Everyone thought that if Reed was to hit FA market he would sign with the Patriots. That was not the case as Reed hasn’t made a visit. He has spent time in Houston. Reports of Andre Johnson courting him to come play over there.

Late reports have the Ravens suddenly make a late push to resign Reed. Looks like we will just have to wait on Ed for this one.

Micheal huff (EX-OAK)

Huff former 7th overall pick in 2007 has been dismissed of his duties. started all 16 games. He’s not spectacular but he has range 11 interceptions and 55 more break up’s.

Huff will soon find work where he maybe be more valuable for his durability and consistency. As well as being versital he can also play cornerback.

Dawan Landry (EX-JAC)

While never living up to his hype of being an aggressive hard-hitting safety the Jaguars have released him. Landry played and started in every game the last two years, posting seasons of 115 and 176 tackles.

Late last year some coaches were worried he might not have the best range and were disappointed in some of his play later in the season.

With the Patriots signing Wilson and Mccourty etched in the safety slot as well. It’s a possibility the Pats take a Gamble on one other of these guys or potentially draft and develop another guy.

What are your thoughts? should the Patriots sign another guy or draft a younger guy? leave it in a comment below.
